Aeration of Fish basins - Agriculture - Aquaculture
Salmonoids are especially demanding about water quality and high oxygen content. The oxygen concentration should be kept at least 5 mg/l throughout the year. This ensures good condition of fish and facilitates quick maturity without disturbances.
Sufficient oxygen content near the basin bottom (2 mg/l) prevents leaching of nutrients and in particular phosphor into the water. Dissolved nutrients have a detrimental impact on water quality and – at worst – can cause growth of cyanobacterium. Furthermore, nutrients can transfer from fish basins to cause loading on other waterways. The Waterix AIRIT® product family has aerators to match different fish hatchery basin sizes.
