Fertilizers boosting soil productivity for agriculture sector

The principle fertilisers used to boost soil productivity are phosphate based. Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP) and Diammonium phosphate (DAP) are used for their ability to deliver Nitrogen and Phosphorus (both macronutrients) to soil as solid fertilisers. Phosphate rock is the raw material for production and is extracted from large deposits across Florida, the Southern Mediterranean into the Middle East (namely Morocco and Saudi Arabia) and on into Russia and China. To this rock, sulfuric acid is added producing phosphoric acid. This acid is then reacted with ammonia and elemental sulfur producing a sulfur enhanced fertiliser. During this process, the dust produced can potentially reach explosive levels.

  • Precision Agriculture

Precision agriculture is no longer a new term in crop production. It is now a widely accepted practice. Aerial imagery is a key component in utilizing precision agriculture techniques for the management of farmland. The GeoVantage Imaging System provides high-resolution, orthorectified images that are used by Cooperatives, Ag Service Providers (ASPs), Crop Consultants, and Growers to:

    • Create management zones
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of fertilizer applications
    • View the whole farm/field
    • Perform in-season analysis to make crop management decisions
    • Manage geo-referenced soil sampling
    • Precisely schedule irrigation
    • Scheduling of pesticide applications
    • Find mechanical errors in application equipment

  • Erosion & sediment control solutions for wind remediation

Wind erosion is a dominant geomorphological process in arid landscapes. Its effects contribute to the loss of soil resources and the emission of mineral dust, with major impacts on regional climate, biogeochemical cycles and human health.  As an aside, ’desertification’ may sound like a course to end a sumptuous meal. But with just one ’s’, it refers to fertile land becoming dry desert. Many factors contribute to the problem, such as soil erosion, climate change and groundwater mismanagement.

  • Laboratory Solutions for the agriculture & farming

Many states have governmental departments with diverse responsibilities in regulatory monitoring such as animal health; weights and measures; gas and oil inspection; seed and fertilizer inspection, feed analysis, crop and livestock statistics, monitoring agricultural environmental issues, as well as research and development. The key to success is a data management system powerful enough to handle all the data measured, reported and analyzed, and flexible enough to match the workflows, regulations and rules specific to the agriculture and farming segment.

  • Irrigation

"maximizing water utilization" By reducing friction & surface tension, TDS, salts, Sodium Absorption Ratio, balancing pH & Calcium/Magnesium Ratios, bicarbonates thus maximizing bio-availibility of nutrients and oxygen to plants and improving soil penetration and soil moisture retention, "mellower soils" & healthier plants; and reducing operational costs by saving water/energy, scale build-up, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and maintenance. Magnation water treatment, like the Magnation Scale Reduction System, creates additional collisions of ions that precipitate CaCO3, and it changes the free gas content in water that leads to improved crop yields. These mechanisms create many applications for the use of MW, with the use of MW having the potential to become more commonly used in the irrigation of crops, as drinking water for livestock and to prevent and remove scale buildup in hydrologic infrastructure. With many studies showing increases in crop yields & animal/soil health.

  • Automatic Crop Irrigation / Automatic Garden Irrigation

Automatic crop and garden irrigation has never been easier! The Micro Rain line of travelers offers a cost effective, portable method for effective crop and garden irrigation. Famers and gardeners have many problems when trying to irrigation their acreages, such as dragging around hose, standing out and sweating in the sun, etc.  These machines are designed to be extremely user friendly, have unparalleled performance, and operate completely unattended. They are a great alternative to in-ground irrigation systems which are typically more expensive, higher maintenance, and have sprinkler heads that often need to be repaired, causing damage to the garden. Proven garden and crop programs that include aeration, fertilization, and a Micro Rain irrigation system with its uniform water applications will ensure your garden or crop field has a `softer feel` and healthier look.

  • Geomembranes for Shrimp Farming Ponds

Intensive commercial shrimp farming began in the late 1960s led in part by technological advances and growing market demand. Today, shrimp farming is so intensive (in some cases close to 300 000 shrimps per hectare) that it requires industrially prepared shrimp feeds, fertilizing the ponds to stimulate the growth of organisms, aeration to prevent oxygen depletion and regular tidal water exchange.  Solmax geomembranes have been used in some of the largest shrimp pond projects in the world. There are several key benefits of lining shrimp ponds with geomembranes. Durable and robust, the HDPE surface prevents weeds, grasses, mud and other obstructive contaminants from entering the pond.  The HDPE substrate is known to reduce the suitability of the environment for bacteria thereby reducing the need for antibiotics. Geomembranes can also protect the slopes and banks from erosion and allow for easy detection and rapid removal of sediment and waste products.

Here are several factors to consider when deciding which type of geomembrane to use in a Shrimp Pond application:

    • Stress crack resistance
    • Tensile and elongation properties
    • Tear and puncture resistance
    • Duration of the project
    • U.V exposure

  • Greenhouse Irrigation Management

Why efficient irrigation is important. Water and fertilizers are essential to the growth of your crop. However, these resources are becoming increasingly scarce worldwide. Modern horticulture has various possibilities for saving water and fertilizers. For example, recirculation of drain water reduces consumption by at least 30%. Exact alignment of the plant’s needs and the irrigation also provides an important contribution to savings. An associated advantage is that an optimal irrigation strategy will increase your crop performance and your profit. Water solutions for your horticultural company With sustainable automation solutions from Hoogendoorn, you can regulate the irrigation in your greenhouse and in your open field in a targeted manner. The innovative iSii process computer precisely coordinates the dosage of various water sources such as rainwater, well water and drain water with the demands of the crop. Wherever possible, iSii also regulates the complete recirculation and disinfection of drain water. The advanced software anticipates changing conditions pro-actively. For example, the frequency and duration of irrigation sessions are adjusted prior to times of more or less sunshine. Based on the measured water intake of the plants and the water content of the soil or substrate, the irrigation can be tailored even more precisely to the growth process
