2016 has been a momentous year
Solving more waste management problems for more companies and organisations than ever before has been just one of our many achievements.
At this time of year it is always good to look back over the previous twelve months and reflect on what we have achieved. 2016, we have to say, has been an excellent year for Matthews Environmental Solutions because in addition to overcoming a significant number of waste manage problems for our customers the year has been highlighted with landmark events on every front – corporate, personal and professional.
If we may be a little indulgent, let’s just look back on a few of the milestones that have marked our year.
Certainly one of our major successes was the development of our animal cremation range with the addition of groundbreaking new concepts that include not only advanced new bespoke pet cremators, but also our innovative new IEB range of pet cremators designed specifically with an eye on the expanding UK market.
Development work has continued on all our other ranges as well, with exciting plans for our Surefire waste incinerators in addition to our Novus human cremation range. In the fourth quarter of the year we were delighted to launch our range of Allburn incinerators that are already opening up an exciting new market sector for us by solving the waste manage problems of customers who are on a restricted budget.
On a corporate level we are delighted to report that 2016 saw us achieve revised ISO 9001 Accreditation, while as part of our drive to embrace even greater efficiencies we also instigated the latest 5S Lean Manufacturing principles. It is a move that has already generated multiple benefits both for our operating methods and for our staff.
As part of our corporate improvement programme we now have a new library of data sheets and brochures; we have already begun work on updating our website and over the course of the year we moved to extend our international social media activities – especially through LinkedIn and Google campaigns.
Solving waste management problems on a worldwide scale has always been our core objective and 2016 has seen us increase our export sales on a global basis. As part of this programme we have worked closely with our international network of agents while at the same time we have been striving hard to develop even more agency partnerships in all parts of the world. Reflecting our international status, in October our MD John Schofield was invited to speak at an important expo event in Mexico.
Coming onto more personal achievements, over the course of the year our three apprentices have now completed their first twelve months of training – all with highly creditable results.
We have also increased staff levels in a number of departments and in summer we appointed James Riley as our new Sales Director.
Coming to the end of the year however doesn’t mean that we will be letting-up in our efforts to maintain our position as one of the world’s leading specialists in providing proven solutions to a wide range of waste manage problems. Even now we are busy preparing for our attendance at ‘Arab Health’, one of the most important healthcare exhibitions and seminars and which is being held at the end of January in Dubai. The emphasis on our stand number: Z1 A55 will be to highlight our expertise in solving medical waste management problems.
2016 has been a great year. 2017 will be even better.
