Chicken Skin Wastewater
The wastewater from a poultry processing plant contained almost exclusively skins, and high concentrations of fat for approximately 8 hours of the production day. This wastewater created heavy blinding problems on their dewatering system. In lab tests the untreated wastewater would completely blind 30 thousands wedge wire screen and inhibit dewatering. IE-614 treated the wastewater with no pH adjustment at a very low dosage of 0.08 grams per 1000 ml. This is equivalent to 6.6 lbs/10,000 gallons of wastewater. The treated wastewater would dewater through a 30 thousanths wedge wire screen in less than 30 seconds. There was no blinding on the screen.
