Fast, simultaneous and continuous monitoring of NOx and NH3 in DeNOx applications
In DeNOx systems using urea injection with ammonia (NH3) as a reducing agent, the flow rate and control of NH3 must be continuously adjusted and controlled to prevent excess NH3 emissions (slip), to reduce environmental impact and cost of reagents. To optimize this process, it is essential to use an emissions analysis system for simultaneous and continuous monitoring of NOx and NH3.
For preparing the Future, one of the main objectives for you and your engineers is to enhance the post-processing technology to significantly reduce the emission levels of NOx, the overall improvement in diesel technology while offering the best guarantees in terms of productivity.

Today, different technologies available are diverted from the original application and used by the automotive industries for measuring NH3 (Ammonia). Beside the complex and complicate implementation of the analyzers, they do not offer generally sufficient mobility and the calibration is impossible …
Environnement S.A developed a specific solution for SCR based on the FTUV exclusive technology offering high selectivity, fast response time and excellent stability. This technology allows full QA/QC in the field including the calibration check of the Analyzer.
Sampling:
- Sampling system with self-regulated heated line (191°C) and 2 microns heated filter integrated
- Additional heated filter in standby, for instant replacement through ‘’Quick Lock’’ connection system (optional)
- Calibration and zero gases can be injected to the heated probe for system integrity check, leak test, system calibration
- Automatic and programmable backflushing (air or N2) for filter cleaning
Analysis cabinet:
- Fast and easy to move between test cells (cabinet mounted on castor wheels)
- Secondary safety filter (1.5 microns) embedded in the cabinet
- Ultra low maintenance, no moving parts
- Modular design for addition of other analyzers (THC, CO, CO2, O2)
- No interference or quenching effect with CO, CO2, H2O and other gases
- Analyzers with fast response time (
- Communication by AK protocol (RS232 / RJ45)
- Specially designed software (Windows PC)
- Dual measurement possible (pre and post catalyst)
Main applications:
Pre and / or post catalyst measurement of NOx and NH3 for all types of engines using DeNOx
Emissions monitoring in Incineration, Cogeneration, and other processes using catalytic DeNOx systems
User testimonials & test comparisons:
“Tests were carried out with the FTUV cabinet (made by) Environnement S.A showing a very good correlation between FTIR and FTUV measurement on the dynamic response. Those tests enabled us to validate as technical choice for NH3 measurement the FTUV cabinet.”
“Many of our test programs have been requiring FTIR due to multiple components of interest. Some of these components are redundant and may be required only because of historical reasons. For NH3 measurements we are comfortable using the FTUV system and will pass such data on to our clients if it is appropriate for their testing.”
“Performance of the FTUV system was similar to our FTIR2 system, but much better than our FTIR1 system.”
“Fast response, easy to operate, easy to move, span gas calibration (NH3) possible to test the complete transfer line.”
“Cost is reasonable compared to other devices for NH3 measurement.”
“Cabinet design, plumbing, networking and mechanical installation of components is elegant.”
“We appreciate the ability to set zero/span on the NH3 analyzer”
“System was relatively quiet compared to other systems”
“Nicely packaged heated line with elegant heated pre-filter. I like the routing of the overflow tubing.”
“Thanks to the high performance filtration and the heated workflow, the system requires very low maintenance.”
