The redevelopment of Dalby Regional Saleyards will ensure Dalby continues to make a significant contribution long into the future. More than 200,000 head of cattle are sold each year at the Dalby Regional Saleyards making it a vital part of Queensland's $5.4 billion beef industry.
Hydroflux were engaged to design and construct the wastewater treatment plant and associated sludge handling systems.
The effluent treatment plant was designed to treat effluent water quality from the new truck wash facility to a sufficiently high standard prior to discharge to sewer. The facility allows for the wash-down of cattle trucks but also vehicles from the coal seam gas and mining industries.
The wastewater treatment process selected was based on an fine screening followed by an Intermittent Decant Extended Aeration Lagoon sequence. A secondary settling pond was constructed which acts as a flow balancing pond allowing discharge to sewer under preferred conditions for the sewerage treatment plant. Sludge dewatering was achieved using a HUBER inclined screw press.
