Lab Owl’s Bioreactor Control System Transforms Lab Performance at Top Mid Atlantic Biotech Company - Case Study
One of the top five biotech organizations in the Mid Atlantic region was experiencing challenges within its Process Cell Culture and Fermentation (PCC&F) development lab. In the lab were 80 bioreactors, utilized by 30 scientists across various areas of focus. The scientists recognized that the antiquated, manual processes in place were inefficient and cumbersome and asked leadership to explore a new approach. Automated Control Concepts, Inc. (ACC) had completed a highly successful process control project utilizing the Rockwell Automation platform a few years earlier for the biotech company’s pilot plant. As a result, ACC was referred to the PCC&F lab to come up with a new solution there as well. The PCC&F scientists soon partnered with ACC’s newly created Lab Owl® division, which spearheaded the project.
The Lab Owl-PCC&F lab partnership was highly successful. As a result of the collaboration, PCC&F scientists were empowered to run larger, more sophisticated experiments.
