Liquid ring pumps are real survivors. Fish Processors would be hard pressed to live without them. With other forms of vacuum pumps being made, Liquid Ring vacuum pumps have proven to be the most reliable.
Statement by Jon Ellison Project Manager at Marel, Seattle USA
With many years of experience designing and building fish processing systems I can tell you that Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps have been a mainstay of the commercial Seafood processing industry for a very long time.
The majority of the Fish Processing Vessels and Land Based Operations throughout the world largely depend on them as a primary means of offloading and cleaning of their products.
We at Marel recently completed a unique underground fish transfer system that moved fish through sanitary piping directly from docked boat to processing line to eliminate conventional tote handling and improve fish quality. Another system was built that pumps fish directly from the “Cod End” of Trawl gear for a continuous unloading of the catch while fish are entering the gear. With other forms of vacuum pumps being made, Liquid Ring vacuum pumps have proven to be the most reliable. When made of non-corrosive materials they can use seawater as a service liquid supply. This makes them ideal for our business. As a tool for conveying fish, we use them in a combination vacuum /compressor service.
Marel has designed fish transfer systems from 2 to 500hp (1,47-368kwh) with fish transfer rates of over 300 ton/hr. and liquid ring pumps were at the heart of them all. Simple by design, this makes them easy for our customers to maintain. The Seafood Industry is tough on machinery. Liquid ring pumps are real survivors. Fish Processors would be hard pressed to live without them.
