Potato Cooked

A large producer of pre-cooked potatoes was having a problem disposing of the wastewater from the washing and cooking process. The water was to be used on the growing field, but had a COD, TSS and nitrogen content in excess of allowable limits, see chart below.

The water was at a pH of 6.5, so no pH adjustment was necessary. The stream was treated with Floccin 1105 at a dosage rate of 400 lbs/1M gallons with the resulting reductions. COD was reduced by 40%; TSS was reduced by 98% and nitrogen was reduced by 29%.
