RENAC-Oasis Solar Academy Egypt (ROSAE) - Case Study
RENAC-OASIS Solar Academy Egypt (ROSAE) provides practical-orientated training courses and capacity building services on solar energy to develop the capacities of the solar industry in Egypt.
ROSAE is the result of a partnership between the Renewables Academy (RENAC), Germany, and Oasis Renewable Energy (ORE), Egypt. ORE is based in Cairo and since 2010 provides education and training in the field of renewable energy, covering themes for decision makers, consultants, engineers, installers, technicians, undergraduates and schools.
ROSAE offers courses for engineers, installers, investors and other professionals with an interest in solar electricity (off-grid and grid-tied) and solar thermal energy. Besides lectures and workshops, practical exercises constitute a key element of the courses.
Trainings
Introduction to Solar Energy
This training course introduces the fundamental aspects of photovoltaic (PV) systems covering off-grid and grid-tied concepts as well as the different technologies available on the market. The course categorises PV applications and explains components of PV systems. Our experts will guide the participants through the fundamental concepts in a very dynamic approach, were site analysis and simulating an off-grid and grid-tied PV system will be one of the exercises that participants will have to face.
Suitable for: Professionals interested in the fundamentals of photovoltaic (PV) systems, investors and members of public institutions.
Duration: 2 days
PV On-Grid Design Course and PV Off-Grid Design
These courses cover design, engineering, and installation aspects of grid-tied and off-grid PV systems. Upon completion, participants can explain the main aspects and key challenges of the technical implementation of PV projects. The courses illustrate system components and configurations, PV applications and installation. Under guidance of our experts, participants design and simulate systems in design workshops and apply the sizing and designing skills gained during the courses. Extensive practical sessions not only provide participants with confidence in utilising PV, but also give an in-depth insight into the specific issues that might arise during installation and commissioning, as well as operation and maintenance. The sessions on project management points out project phases and success factors, and discusses risks and their mitigation. Additionally, the courses covers economic assessment and financing of PV plants.
Suitable for: Engineers, designers, technical sales, project managers and professionals with technical backgrounds.
Duration: 3 days each
Solar Pumping
This course covers design and engineering of PV Pumping systems. Upon completion, participants can explain the main aspects and key challenges of the technical implementation of PV Pumping projects. The courses start with introduction to renewable energy and solar energy, then go through system components and configurations, pumps and irrigation systems. Under guidance of our experts, participants design and simulate systems in design workshops and apply the sizing and designing skills gained during the courses. The sessions on project management points out project phases and success factors, and discusses risks and their mitigation. Additionally, the course covers economic assessment and financing of Solar PV pumping systems.
Suitable for: Engineers, designers, agricultural engineers, technical sales, project managers and professionals with technical backgrounds.
Duration: 3 days each
Solar Thermal
This course covers design, installation, operation and maintenance of solar thermal systems in depth. Participants learn about system components and system configurations. The course offers an insight into the different stages of the design process: from planning, installation and commissioning, to operation and maintenance. Our experts describe sizing methodologies for system components – skills participants apply during a full-day sizing workshop, which starts with determination of demand and ends with an economic assessment of the solar thermal systems designed by participants. Theory is accompanied by practical exercises and case studies from real projects in order for the participants to learn the multiple applications of the technology. Additionally, the training covers project management, economics and financing. Thanks to this practical approach and the hands-on training, participants gain the skills to design a system by themselves.
Suitable for: Engineers, designers and professionals with a technical background
Duration: 3 days
