The Lusatian biogas feeding project of Bioenergiepark Forst GmbH & Co. KG has a gas upgrading plant with a capacity of 700 standard cubic metres, which is supplying about 60,000 megawatt hours of green energy since September 2014. The plant feeds into the existing natural gas network of Ontras VNG and supplies green heat to approximately 4,000 households.
The company-owned operation of EnviTec Biogas AG also uses the innovative biogas preparation technology EnviThan. For an environmentally friendly and extremely cost-efficient process, EnviTec Biogas is equipping its upgrading plant with membrane modules from Evonik Industries. The hollow fibre membranes clean the raw biogas generated in the biogas plant to a bio-natural gas purity level of over 97% CH4.
While the membranes are installed vertically in the two EnviThan gas upgrading plants in Sachsendorf and Köckte, in the Brandenburg town of Forst a new membrane configuration is being applied in the form of a horizontal cartridge system. The horizontal configuration of the SEPURAN Green modules from Evonik enables EnviTec Biogas to install over twice as many modules in only one container.
