At AeroFarms, we grow delicious, nutritious food in our state-of-the-art indoor vertical farms. We are a mission-driven company and certified B Corporation, and proud to be named one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company. Our patented, award winning aeroponic technology provides the perfect conditions for healthy plants to thrive, taking vertical farming to a new level of precision and productivity with minimal environmental impact and virtually zero risk. You can enjoy locally grown, delicious, pesticide free produce all year round through our retail brand Dream Greens. AeroFarms is on a mission to transform agriculture by building and operating environmentally responsible farms throughout the world to enable local production at scale and nourish our communities with safe, nutritious, and delicious food. There has never been a greater need for safe, dependable, nutritious food, and we are scaling quickly to transform agriculture around the world.
We have been charting a course toward a new standard for totally-controlled agriculture since 2004. We disrupt traditional supply chains by building farms on major distribution routes and near population centers. We defy traditional growing seasons by enabling local farming at commercial scale all-year round. We set a new standard for traceability by managing our greens from seed to package. And we do it all while using 95% less water than field farmed-food and with yields 390 times higher per square foot annually.
Our passion is great tasting food and sharing our harvest with the world. We recently began growing at our ninth farm — the world’s largest indoor vertical farm and our new global headquarters in Newark, NJ (pictured). There has been tremendous demand for our locally grown, delicious, produce, and we have farms in development in multiple US states and on four continents.
AeroFarms is on a mission to fundamentally transform agriculture by building, owning, and operating indoor vertical farms that grow flavorful, safe, healthy food in a sustainable and socially responsible way. We are a Certified B-Corp with a strongly-held social mission and a true commitment to sustainable practices. It’s the “how” not just the “what” that is important to us.
We did not set out to improve agriculture as it exists in the world right now. We started over. We drive new ways of thinking with a relentless focus on improving our business.Caring
We want to be a force for good in the world. We place our team, customers, community, environment, and investors at the heart of every decision we make.
Everything we create, everything we build, and everything we send out into the world has an impact on people and the planet. We take that responsibility seriously. We operate ethically and strive constantly to increase our operational standards to deliver high quality food.Engaging
We are here to inspire. Changing the world takes a lot. We’re running fast toward a better future. We hope that our mission and our technology inspire you to get involved. Join our team, invest in our vision, finance a farm or just share our story.
At AeroFarms, our environmental impact is at the heart of what we do. Traditional agriculture takes a massive toll on the planet’s natural resources. We are transforming agriculture to flip the paradigm of exploitation to one of preservation and conservation.
70% of our water supply goes to agriculture. 70% of water contamination comes from agriculture. Current events, future predictions, and common sense tell us we cannot continue on this path. AeroFarms uses 95% less water than field farming and has developed a closed loop water circulation system that recirculates water to our plants. Imagine the impact if even 10% of our produce was grown this way.Pesticides
In the field, overuse of pesticides has decreased the beneficial microorganisms in the soil and allowed bad ones to proliferate. Our soil is no longer healthy enough to filter out pesticides and render them inert, leading to toxicity and runoff. Runoff leads to algal blooms and oceanic dead zones. By growing indoors, AeroFarms can avoid these issues.Land
25% of the world’s land is now highly degraded, with soil erosion, water degradation and biodiversity loss. Arable land is a precious resource and as soil health depletes, so does the nutrition of our food. AeroFarms uses less than 1% of the land required by conventional growing. That means we are over 390 times more productive per square foot vs. traditional agriculture, while also ensuring that our plants get all of the macro and micro nutrients they need all year round.
AeroFarms was the first and only agriculture company to date to be honored by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation as one of the Circular Economy 100, a select group of global companies focused on eliminating waste and improving our positive impact on the environment and sustainability.Carbon Emissions
What we think of as farming has changed a lot. From drilling for water, pumping from deeper reserves than ever before, operating tractors, tillers, and harvesters, to washing three times in large scale processing facilities that operate 24/7, traditional commercial farming is quite energy intensive. Plus, 95% percent of America’s salad greens are grown in either Salinas, California or Yuma, Arizona – traveling thousands of miles to get to your plate.
AeroFarms reduces harmful transportation emissions by 98% on average. That is because we build our farms on major distribution channels and near population centers to bring local, fresh greens to communities who wouldn’t normally have them.
