Pyro Green-Gas (formerly known as AirScience Technologies Inc.)
AirScience Technologies was formed in 1993 from the merger of two companies, Canadian and American. After fifteen years of designing and building air pollution control systems for the primary and chemical industries, the company has refocused its activities on the renewable energy sector. From the reduction of green gas emissions from landfills with its line of landfill gas flares, the company has since added the technologies for the desulfurization of biogas, the dehumidification of biogas, the purification of biogas and the production of renewable (green) natural gas through the removal of carbon dioxide. The company is also active in the purification of coke oven gas for the primary steel industry with production of high purity hydrogen. The company is active in North America and in Asia where it has installed some of the largest landfill gas and coke oven gas valorization facilities.

About Us
Biogas purification and upgrading, thermal oxidizers and flares, and gaseous resource valorization, that's our business-worldwide
AirScience Technologies is a North American company based in Montreal that designs and builds Biogas Upgrading Systems and Equipments for bio-digesters and landfill gas applications.
Biogas Purification and Upgrading
Biogas, a combination of methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2) and impurities is a gaseous fuel but also a green-house gas (GHG). As a gaseous fuel, biogas must be purified before being valorized through the production of electricity or of compressed natural gas (CNG). It is then referred to as Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) or Bio-methane and the biogas purification process referred to as Biogas Upgrading.
AirScience Purification & Upgrading Technologies include:
- Biogas desulfurization
- Biogas dehumidification
- Biogas siloxanes and non-methane hydrocarbons capture
- Biogas CO2 rejection
- Biogas oxygen depletion
Coke Oven Gas Purification and Valorization
Historically coke oven gas (COG) has been used as a fuel for its calorific value, however due to the evolution of gas separation systems and their reduction in price, the extraction of hydrogen, methane or the use of COG as a feedstock to produce hydrogen through COG reforming and water shift reaction or to produce ethanol is now creating much superior value for COG than traditional usage as a fuel.
AirScience Technologies has become a leader in the valorization of COG over the last five years.
Pyrolysis Gas Purification
Depending on the feedstock being pyrolysed the composition of the pyrolysis gas will contain various contaminants. Prior to the use of this gas as a fuel or as a gaseous feedstock, these contaminants need to be removed. The most common contaminants from the pyrolysis of vehicle tires are hydrogen sulfide and hydrochloric acid.
As part of its Gaseous Resource Valorization strategy, AirScience Technologies has the required technologies to eliminate pyrolysis gas contaminants in the most cost efficient way using single use wet or dry media or regenerative technologies.
Biogas and Landfill Gas Flares
As a green-house gas, biogas cannot be vented to atmosphere and must be incinerated in a flare. AirScience Enclosed Flame Gas Flares are specifically designed for biogas incineration. These flares are designed for continuous operation as is the case for landfill gas applications. These flares are also designed for emergency use only which is generally the case in conjunction with biogas purification systems.
Biogas and Landfill Gas Flares,Thermal Oxidizers
As a green-house gas, biogas cannot be vented to atmosphere and must be incinerated in a flare or in a thermal oxidizer in the case of low methane content vent gases. AirScience Enclosed Flame Gas Flares are specifically designed for biogas incineration. These flares are designed for continuous operation as is the case for landfill gas applications. These flares are also designed for emergency use only which is generally the case in conjunction with biogas purification systems.
AirScience Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTO) are specifically designed for the biogas upgrading application where thermal content has rapid and large variations which have proven to be a challenge for typical thermal oxidizers.
AirScience in the Biogas Market
AirScience Technologies has a worldwide approach to the biogas market and will entertain projects in any country. The company presently has installations in the USA, Canada, Mexico and India.

You can trust AirScience Technologies to find the right solution for your needs wherever you are, biogas purification is our business--- worldwide.
Benefits
Gaseous resource valorization, that's our business-worldwide
AirScience Technologies offers all the biogas purification technologies required to produce power and heat biogas quality, CNG biogas quality and LNG biogas quality. See selection guide and process descriptions for more information
Power Generation
For years biogas produced by municipal solid waste landfills and bio-digesters was flared, the energy contained in that biogas simply wasted. With the increase of the cost of energy and the concern over greenhouse gases emissions, more and more producers of biogas started producing electricity using internal combustion engine gensets.
Pipeline CNG
Recently, producers of biogas started considering other avenues for the commercialization of their biogas output. The first alternative is CNG, producing CNG for transportation purposes of for the natural gas network (pipeline quality) requires a much higher level of purity than biogas for power and heat production.
The level of sulfur, humidity, siloxanes and carbon dioxide acceptable in CNG are very low, translating into the requirement for elaborate biogas purification systems.
Transportation CNG
CNG is also used as fuel for motor vehicles. In certain jurisdictions all public transportation is operating on GNG. Generally the specification for transportation CNG are not as stringent as pipeline CNG. AirScience is taking care of these differences in its technology selection guide.
LNG
Even more recently, biogas producers have been looking at the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from their output. Here, the purification level of the gas is even more stringent than for CNG production, however the higher market price for LNG versus CNG justifies the extra capital and operation expense in most cases.
