History
Over the past 88 years, Alex Power Equipment has served the area with quality products for business, residential, and agriculture. Formerly Newhouse Machinery, Carl Newhouse began business in 1921, with his son, Julian, taking over the business from him. In 1990 four longtime employees purchased the business from Julian Newhouse. Later in 1999 the three current owners, Allan Buse, Dave Deakins and Tom Townsend purchased the fourth share of the company. Newhouse Machinery resided in downtown Alexandria, Minnesota for 78 years, until October 1st 2002.
Alex Power Equipment currently resides at 111 50th Avenue West in Alexandria, just off of I94. Although the company has changed its name and location, it's still the same owners and staff offering the same products and services. The three owners have a combined 81 years of experience with the company.
Tom Townsend has been with the company for the last 32 years and has been the service manager for the past 17 years. Dave Deakins began in 1979 as a service technician and is currently the sales and parts manager. Allan Buse has 32 years with the company and is the general manager.
