Andermatt Biocontrol AG
Andermatt Biocontrol was founded by Dr. Martin Andermatt and Dr. Isabel Andermatt in 1988. Since then it has developed to become the leading company in Switzerland for biological based plant protection. More than 25 years ago, we started our first production of plant protection products based on baculoviruses. In those days, the use of biological control such as the application of baculoviruses against insect pests was thought to be a method only for use in organic production. Today, it has been widely recognized that the use of biological control measures, such as baculoviruses, offers a highly effective tool within IPM programs and alongside conventional agriculture. The world-wide demand for environmental friendly and residue-free food production is increasing. We will continue in our goal to offer biocontrol products, which represent reasonable and effective alternatives to chemical pesticides.
The key expertise of Andermatt Biocontrol AG is the production of baculoviruses and entomopathogenic nematodes, as well as beneficial insects for greenhouses and stored products. Our quality standards and our perpetual focus on customer satisfaction means that, for many years, we have been able to supply products of the high quality expected from a Swiss company.
With the aid of our own Research and Development department we constantly improve our product and process know-how and it is due to our innovation that we have sustained continuous product improvements. At present, Andermatt Biocontrol AG has about 80 employees working in Research and Development, Production, Logistics, Marketing and Administration. Globally, we market our own manufactured products plus selected high-quality trade products, through more than 80 distributors. Andermatt Biocontrol has subsidiaries in France, South Africa, Brazil and Canada. We market and sell our own products as well as third party products through our subsidiaries to relevant markets
In 1988 Madex, the first product to be launched by Andermatt Biocontrol, also became the first product worldwide based on a granulovirus. Since then it has been the goal of Andermatt Biocontrol to replace chemical pesticides with good biological products such as microbial products and beneficial organisms.
The company has developed to become one of the leading biological plant protection companies worldwide. For the Swiss market, Andermatt Biocontrol has registered dozens of biocontrol products from different suppliers, which are being distributed successfully in Switzerland.
Key expertise of Andermatt Biocontrol is the development of new products based on baculoviruses and beneficial insects. Through the acquisition of the company Topcat, a comprehensive knowhow for the development of mouse traps was adopted and developed further.
