Primary business areas
The largest business area for AquaPri is trout (including trout caviar).
With 50 years experience in trout farming, AquaPri has been a national pioneer in this field, and today we are one of the largest producers of trout in Denmark with a production of about 5.000 tonnes a year.
In recent years, we have also had success with farmed pike perch, which is a business area we will be expanding in the future.
We focus exclusively on luxury products, and always take the necessary time to achieve the very best quality.
Through many years of work within this field, our specialized workforce has developed methods to ensure that we always obtain exactly the quality that we are looking for.
We see it as our core competence to meet your individual demands, and to handpick the quality you require.
Food safety, traceability and sustainability
All of our production takes place in Denmark, where we are subject to some of the strictest food safety and sustainability legislation in the world.
Furthermore, we have implemented our own food safety programme, in accordance with the HACCP principles.
A central element in our strategy is a traceability programme, where we trace the fish through the entire supply chain, from egg to the final product.
AquaPri Across the World
Our continued focus on luxury quality and food safety has literally made our products popular across the world.
This is illustrated on the map, where the orange areas show you where we sell our products.
We are particularly proud that they have been welcomed in a number of countries with long traditions for seafood, where the customers are used to only the best quality fish and caviar.
Most of our markets also have strict food safety legislation, which we take very seriously, and which we comply with 100%.
We are still looking to expand our markets, as we are convinced that other parts of the world will also appreciate our luxury products.
AquaPri – a family business
It all began in the year 1900, when a determined 14-year-old Dane named Anders Priess decided to take charge of his future, and establish his own company in the fishing port of Glyngøre.
Due to his young age, it was his mother who formally owned the company which was therefore named “Priess & Co”.
Anders traded in fish he bought from local fishermen, much to the dismay of older traders, who did not welcome the competition.
This was made very clear to Anders when he was slapped on the face and thrown into the water by a competitor with a remark that “we don’t want children buying up our fish around here”.
But despite such setbacks, Anders was determined to succeed and over the years his business flourished.
In time, he started his own family and he passed on his determination and business skills to his sons Henning and Tage. They joined the company in the 1930s and eventually took over from their father.
At that point, “Priess & Co” had expanded into many kinds of seafood and in connection with the change of generation, it was divided into two separate companies.

The next generations
Priess & Co was taken over by Henning while Tage developed “Glyngøre and the Limfjord Company” (The brand “Glyngøre” is still one of the strongest seafood brands in Denmark).
Henning’s sons Anders and Nels followed in their father’s footsteps, and entered the family business which was eventually renamed “AquaPri”.
Today, Anders and Nels are still part of AquaPri’s management, but have been succeeded as owners by their respective sons Henning and Morten, who formally took ownership in 2012.
On Top of the World
AquaPri is based in the Scandinavian country of Denmark where the clean environment and temperate climate provide the best conditions for aquaculture, both inland and on sea farms.
AquaPri was founded in the Danish port of Glyngøre in the year 1900 and has since then grown to spread out across the country. Even though we sell most of our products abroad, we still produce everything in Denmark.
Here, we are subject to some of the strictest food safety and environmental legislation in the world, enforced meticulously by the Danish authorities.
We mainly farm trout, both inland and at sea farms, but have also had success with farmed pike perch, an area which we will expand in the years to come.
Thus, we are in the process of building a new state-of-the-art pike perch plant which is expected to be finished in 2015.
Our fish are processed at our own plant, AquaProduction, located near the German border.
The right people for the job
In AquaPri, we are very careful to handpick the right people for every single position in our organization. We are proud of our skilled and dedicated workforce which is absolutely central to our success with high quality products.

Independent and dedicated
To most of our people, working in aquaculture is more than just a job. It is a way of life.
This is reflected in a strong dedication to their work, and an ability to work independently, which is a cornerstone in our way of operating.
Modern fish farming is a specialized field which places high demands on our employees’ knowledge.
To ensure that they always have access to the most recent knowledge, they all take part in our extensive educational programmes within their respective work fields.
As important as a formalized education is, there are still things that can only be learned through experience, especially when you work with live animals.
And in AquaPri, we are lucky to have one of the most experienced workforces in European aquaculture.
