The purpose of the BC Grain Producers Association (BCGPA) is to improve the viability of the grains and oilseed industry in the BC Peace River region. The association and its members maintain sustained liaison with other agencies to benefit the field crop industry. The association encourages all farmers to participate within their industry so that their voices may be heard.
The BC Grain Producers Association is comprised of grain and oilseed producers, from British Columbia. The Association represents farmers from all over the province, with the bulk of our members located in the Peace Region, in Northeastern BC. Our members are represented by 8 directors; four directors are elected from each of the North and South Peace to allow for equal representation of both zones.
In addition to representing the interests of BC producers on local, provincial and federal levels, the Association also has a research department where grains and oilseeds are grown on two research farms in Northern BC. This research allows for new crop varieties to be strategically tested in a northern climate to allow for successful adaptation to a short-growing season.
