BioFishency
BioFishency’s all-in-one water treatment system for aquaculture increases fish productivity, has a minimal ecological footprint, enhances water conditions, and significantly grows profitability. During our long years in the field of aquaculture in Israel and around the world, we came to the conclusion that technology was the key to leveraging the potential growth of aquaculture production and identified what we term as a “technology gap”. On the one hand, the extensive and intensive aquaculture methods which produce relatively low yields, use water and land resources inefficiently, and have had almost no technological innovation during the past decades. On the other hand, the RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System) growing method which gives very high yields and uses small land and water resources due to very advanced, sophisticated but expensive technology.

About Us
BioFishency was founded by Igal Magen and Cobi Levanon, experienced top level aquaculture project managers and consultants. Their goal was to develop a water treatment system with high-end technological capabilities, yet accessible and viable to all fish farmers.
BioFishency was founded in 2013 and operates within the framework of the Trendlines Agtech business incubator.
We have been working on aquaculture projects around the world for nearly 20 years. Our extensive experience in growing fish and in aquaculture led us to understand the market’s needs, challenges, and potential.
Be a Part of the Global Food Solution
Demand for fish protein is on the increase due to population growth and is putting more pressure on both marine and fresh water stocks. More than 33% of ocean fishing is fully exploited. Aquaculture, the farming of aquatic organisms for profit, is the only way to meet this growing demand.
The Challenge
During our long years in the field of aquaculture in Israel and around the world, we came to the conclusion that technology was the key to leveraging the potential growth of aquaculture production and identified what we term as a “technology gap”.
On the one hand, the extensive and intensive aquaculture methods which produce relatively low yields, use water and land resources inefficiently, and have had almost no technological innovation during the past decades. On the other hand, the RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System) growing method which gives very high yields and uses small land and water resources due to very advanced, sophisticated but expensive technology.
For most of the aquaculture in the world which occurs in developing countries, the expensive RAS growing method is irrelevant.
The extensive and intensive aquaculture methods need new technological solutions to make the fish farmers more profitable and productive.
The Solution
We sought a simple-to-operate, cost-effective technology, which would increase yields and save resources and expenses (water and land). Our challenge was to develop a system with high-end technological capabilities, yet accessible and viable to all fish farmers, even those with limited infrastructure and resources.
The BioFishency system makes use of multiple known water treatment methods combined together into one product: an All-in-One water treatment system.
Advantages
BioFishency’s cost-effective, plug-and-play water treatment system for land-based aquaculture costs a fraction of high-end water treatment systems. It requires minimal infrastructure and technical expertise.
The BioFishency unit operates with all different aquaculture methods: extensive (land ponds), intensive (constructed ponds), and recirculated. BioFishency’s system enables fish growers to upgrade existing facilities while using installed infrastructure and working methods.
