Mission
Ceravision's mission is to deliver to world leading partners a range of lighting system designs that offer unprecedented efficiency, superior colour, small form factor and long product life spans.

Ceravision maintains an extensive Intellectual Property (“IP”) portfolio comprising Patents, Trade Marks and Design Rights. We have developed a significant Patent portfolio around our novel electrodeless plasma light source. This Patent portfolio continues to expand as patent applications are granted and new fillings are registered in various jurisdictions. Ceravision’s patent portfolio currently comprises 31 Patent Families, 27 PCT applications in 15 jurisdictions and 129 Granted Patents with 36 in application.

Ceravision maintains a broad patenting strategy in terms of both technical and geographical extent. All aspects of the Company’s lighting technology have been protected, with additions to the portfolio as new inventions are created and developed. The Company has secured protection in the following countries and regions: Europe, USA, Japan, North America, the GCC region, Brazil, Russia, India, China, Australasia and Africa.

Ceravision has successfully followed a strict policy of vigorously protecting and enforcing its IP rights worldwide and will continue to do so.

Ceravision's products comply with EU directives and EC regarding the use of hazardous materials in electrical and electronic products (RoHS) and the use of materials permitted under the initiative to provide a high level of protection for human health and the environment from chemicals (REACH).

The products satisfy EC regulations 245/2009 and 347/2010 defining the eco-design requirements for tertiary sector lighting products.

Lamp design, electronic control gear, reflector design and lighting controls all contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of a lighting system. Ceravision's small source size, very high lamp lumen maintenance factors (LLMF) and luminaire light output ratios (LOR) combined with a wireless lighting control system, all provide the end user with schemes that have low environmental impact and low total cost of ownership.

The components and processes used in Ceravision's products are selected to minimise the impact on the environment. Of the materials making a typical luminaire, more than 80% can be recycled. The product can be readily disassembled so that materials can be re-used and recycled.

Ceravision's products comply with the applicable international standards, enabling lighting schemes to be designed to satisfy the appropriate standards. Our designers encourage clients to make as much use of daylight as reasonably practicable.

To comply with the WEEE Directive and the UK WEEE regulations, Ceravision is registered with a producer compliance scheme.

Ceravision plays a full and active role in lighting industry bodies. The company and its staff are, for example, members of the Lighting Industry Association (UK) and the Commission Internationalé de l'Éclairage (CIE). Ceravision is represented on several technical committees involved in defining the future standards and codes of practice for the lighting industry.

Ceravision’s High Efficiency Plasma (HEP) light is particularly suited to medium and high power applications. The light is emitted from a very small source, which enables the light to be accurately focussed and distributed. This in turn facilitates significantly greater optical performance.

High Efficiency Plasma (HEP) technology is a new and unique genre of electrodeless, radio frequency (RF) driven lighting invented by Ceravision. The unique design of Ceravision's proprietary plasma burner allows the efficient collection and distribution of the light produced. In practical terms, this will result in a significant reduction of energy usage and capital expenditure to light any given area.

This proprietary electrodeless lighting system uses radio frequency in the microwave range to create a high intensity plasma discharge and comprises four integrated elements:

  1. Quartz RF resonator/plasma burner (the ‘lamp’).
  2. Transition unit (the system that couples the RF energy from the source into the resonator).
  3. RF microwave source.
  4. AC/DC power supply.

The resonator/burner contains an inert gas and metal halide salts. RF microwave energy resonating within the lamp ionizes the gas to form a plasma that combines with the metal halide to vaporize the metal halide salts, emitting an intense, bright light. This method of producing light has proved to be extremely efficient, using less energy to make more light of a better quality.
