About us
In 2018 Contrec are proud to be the benchmark for process and petroleum instrumentation. Formed over 30 years ago to develop the first electronic flowmeter displays for Shell in Australia, at a time when mechanical gear driven displays were the norm. Contrec quickly began to see demand for their equipment rise due to increased automation and the need for improved performance with reduced maintenance cost and downtime.
Contrec began to expand into new markets, providing batch controllers into food and beverage industries and battery powered instruments into the remote Aussie outback where power supplies were not feasible. Soon after this, we began exporting these exciting solutions further afield, to the USA and Europe and Africa. Dedicated offices were formed to provide local technical support and stockholding and Contrec continued to develop solutions for tanker loading systems incorporating additive injection and office software.
In 2018 Contrec are proud to be the benchmark for process and petroleum instrumentationWe are fully certified to ISO9001:2000 and our equipment carries the latest approvals for use in hazardous areas. We continually develop and test our products to comply with international standards on accuracy and also to the changing demands and requirements of our customers.
We have assembled a professionally managed team with over 50 years experience in applying flow solutions, who are focused on satisfying our customers needs and expectations.
History
Established in Australia in 1980, we were the first to produce electronic displays for flowmeters, replacing the outdated, high-maintenance mechanical registers of the past.
Building on this success, Contrec quickly began to expand into new markets. Before long we were producing innovative batch controllers for the food and beverage industries and battery powered instruments for the remote Aussie outback where power supplies were unavailable.
With the rise in automation within the petroleum industry, Contrec became one of the leading manufacturers of advanced tanker loading systems for road, rail and barge filling applications. For instance, Contrec load computers were the first to receive the OIML custody transfer approvals.
Before long, Contrec was exporting its pioneering solutions across the globe - to the USA, Europe and Africa. Dedicated offices were formed to provide local technical support and stockholding, including a leading-edge facility near Halifax in the UK. Meanwhile, Contrec continued to develop state-of-the-art solutions for tanker loading systems incorporating additive injection and Terminal Automation Software.
In 2002 Contrec PTY was acquired by Holland-based Delft Instruments, becoming part of Honeywell in 2007. In 2012, the shareholders of Contrec Europe bought the manufacturing rights, and production was moved from India to Contrec’s West Yorkshire facility. This gave us far greater control over design, production and quality. It also enabled us to invest heavily in research and development to improve and expand our product range still further.
Today, Contrec is proud to lead the world in process and petroleum instrumentation. In addition we continue to develop ground-breaking products for markets such as bio-fuel, food and beverage and energy industries.
Our products are recognised as the benchmark within our industry with literally tens of thousands of Contrec instruments being trusted in every continent and in most countries around the globe.
This is backed by continuous developing and testing to ensure our products comply with international standards on accuracy while meeting our customers’ diverse and ever-changing requirements.
And, judging from what our global customer base tell us, we appear to have got it exactly right.
