Company History
Deep Ocean Group was established in May of 2011. The group was formed following the merger of the survey, IMR (inspection, maintenance and repair) and decommissioning services of DeepOcean, the seabed intervention company CTC Marine Projects and the towing and supply services of Trico Supply. These three divisions provide the company with a set of complementary skills and expertise, which in turn, have positioned Deep Ocean Group as a leading provider of diverless subsea construction services and operations.
Now operating as one company under the name DeepOcean, it offers five main service streams including Survey and Seabed-mapping, Subsea Installation, Seabed Intervention, Inspection, Maintenance and Repair (IMR), and Decommissioning.
CTC Marine Projects was established in 1993 as a private limited company in the North East of England, UK. CTC’s initial core business was the provision of fibre optic cable lay and seabed intervention solutions for the global telecommunication market. Later, the company diversified and added trenching services for the oil and gas industry and offshore renewables.
DeepOcean was established in 1999 and is founded on the provision of high quality equipment and subsea services combined with a team of highly experienced personnel with knowledge of deep-water operations. DeepOcean now has the track record and experience to take on deep-water assignments anywhere in the world.
Deepocean Renewables
DeepOcean has built up a strong track record in the offshore renewables market and has established a solid fleet of installation and trenching spreads to provide the complete power cable offering. Whilst offering world-class subsea equipment, DeepOcean also has the ability to provide engineering and design, route optimisation, geotechnical support, project management and feasibility studies - this experience and in-house capability is what makes DeepOcean stand ahead of its competitors.
DeepOcean provides a range of solutions under its five core services of Survey and Seabed-mapping, Subsea Installation, Seabed Intervention, IMR and Decommissioning.
SURVEY AND SEABED-MAPPING
DeepOcean can offer detailed surveys of cable corridors to allow project engineers to design cost-efficient, practical and safe routes for their installations. Route surveys detail the topography of the seafloor to correctly identify optimum routes and lay barge anchor pattern routes.
Wrecks, man-made artifacts, debris and dumping grounds are identified to ensure that cables are not laid in potentially hazardous areas for the cable or the trenching assets. As a provider of cable installation and trenching services, DeepOcean can provide a combined package of pre and post lay survey and trenching services from the cable installation vessel or as a separate scope of work.
SUBSEA INSTALLATION
Providing a full range of solutions for HVAC and HVDC cables, flexibles and umbilicals, DeepOcean can deliver solutions from shallow water beach landings to the deepest offshore sites with its advanced installation and construction vessels. DeepOcean provides specialist designed but cost-effective, DP2 cable installation vessel solutions. These solutions combine flexible array cable and export cable storage with an integrated burial tool launching spread and operational team accommodation.
SEABED INTERVENTION (TRENCHING)
DeepOcean is home to the world’s largest fleet of high technology marine trenching and burial equipment, including jet trenching ROVs, ploughs and mechanical trenchers. DeepOcean’s strength includes its flexibility to provide the right tool for the job combined with an experienced offshore delivery team.
INSPECTION,MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR (IMR)
DeepOcean is a global IMR contractor, with a leading position in the North Sea. With several major contracts in place for maintaining oil and gas infrastructure, DeepOcean has unique experience and track record in this sector and fleet of existing vessels, technologies and methodologies which are being transferred to the offshore renewables market.
DeepOcean can provide both annual and multi-year rotating IMR plans for all subsea wind farm and wave site infrastructure including substation structures, turbine foundations, cables and wave devices.
DECOMMISSIONING
DeepOcean provides Decommissioning services to the Oil and Gas industry. Techniques have been developed for the cutting, management and removal of subsea structures, cables and pipelines to meet with the operator’s obligations under their lease. These techniques can be used and further developed to meet with the future needs of the offshore renewables sector.
