Earth Networks - an AEM brand
Founded in 1993, Earth Networks started in the education market by pioneering a program that installed professional-grade weather stations at schools and then networked them together. After creating, perfecting, and using the WeatherBug mobile and desktop applications to help consumers get hyperlocal weather data, Earth Networks sold the brand in 2016 to focus more on mitigating weather-related risks for businesses and governments. Today, Earth Networks retains ownership of the over 10,000 weather stations and sensors that continue to power applications such as WeatherBug throughout the world. Our Earth Networks Total Lightning Network has grown into the most reliable and precise lightning detection system in the world.

About us
Earth Networks is the world’s best collection of environmental monitoring networks, including weather, total lightning, and greenhouse gas, across six continents. We operate the largest proprietary weather observation network, with more than 17,500 stations, and our real-time sensors have set a new standard for getting data from the field into decision-makers’ hands.
We’re proud to be National Mesonet Program partners in the U.S., making us ambassadors in the quest to build a weather-ready nation. We work closely with agencies like the National Weather Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and NASA to advance scientific knowledge of weather trends and phenomena. We collaborate internationally across the Americas, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia to foster the development of powerful weather networks to protect communities and developing infrastructure.
In 2018, Earth Networks joined the AEM family of brands, increasing forecasting capacity and the size of our sensor network significantly.
