About Us
Envirolink Northwest was a programme run by Envirolink. The aim of the programme was to support the development and growth of the low carbon and environmental goods and services sector in the North West of England. It was funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the region's local authorities and industry. After a successful 10 years, the programme came to an end on 31 January 2012. It helped organisations to commercialise new technologies and services and to successfully market these.
Overview
Envirolink Northwest was a programme run by Envirolink. The programme's objectives were to:
- Increase the level of innovation, knowledge and technology transfer within the sector
- Increase the level of learning and skills for the future sector workforce
- Promote the sector in regional, national and international markets.
The Envirolink Northwest programme helped suppliers of low carbon and environmental goods and services to develop by providing support with research and commercial advice on technology development, assistance with business planning and funding, planning and licensing advice, and marketing and PR support.
The programme also promoted low carbon and environmental technologies, goods and services and their related benefits to end-users, and provided advice on technology and product options, finance and funding availability, planning and supplier information. To maximise on this, the activities focused on the following growth sub-sectors:
- Environmental technologies, specifically:
- Energy efficiency
- Renewable energy
- Waste management and recycling
- Water and wastewater.
The programme not only played a crucial role in helping to improve the competitiveness of industries in the economically vibrant environmental technology sector in the North West region, it also contributed towards solutions to high profile environmental issues associated with water, energy and waste.
