Gakon founder: Bert Gardien
In his early twenties he was young and enthusiastic. Passionate and driven. With a bit of nerve and a nose for the market, the youngBert Gardienwanted to be an entrepreneur. He started his own business in the housing sector as a builder, but very soon he was building wooden greenhouses. This is how it all started. Wooden greenhouses – can you imagine? A lot has changed over the last sixty years… Wooden greenhouses have made way for more innovative concepts. For instance, in the ‘80’s Gakon set the trend with the introduction of its own aluminium roof- and wall systems.
Developments within Gakon
It isn’t just the Gakon products that have been updated over the last sixty years, but changes have also made to the company. At the end of 2007 we moved to a new production location in the Wateringse Veld industrial zone. At the beginning of 2001 Gakon was acquired by the current owners, Pieter van Berchum and Loek van der Heijden. For the last sixty years Gakon has been busy in the greenhouse sector. Of course a lot of changes and innovation has taken place during those sixty years, but nonetheless, some things have remained just as they were. We will continue to innovate with enthusiasm and a drive and ability to nose out market demand.
