The GRODAN Group, founded in 1969, is active in more than sixty countries worldwide. The head office is located in Roermond, the Netherlands.
Solutions for Precision Growing
All GRODAN substrate solutions are aimed at doing more with less, with respect for people and the planet. Or, as we call it: 'Precision Growing'. It is the most efficient and effective form of growing, focused on using the minimum of input materials to generate maximum output. By applying Precision Growing techniques, less water, fewer nutrients, crop protection products, energy and land are needed. Growing costs decrease, crop yield and quality increase. In addition, this form of growing actively contributes to sustainable horticulture by enabling the sustainable production of tasty, healthy and safe fresh produce for consumers.
The GRODAN group for a sustainable future
Sustainability plays a prominent role within the GRODAN Group and can be seen in every stage of the life cycle of GRODAN substrate solutions, from the manufacture through to the recycling of our stone wool. The Group pursues a durable way of doing business, in which economic, social and environmental interests are in balance. As part of our strategy, we have implemented a sustainability programme that will guarantee continuous improvement in the field of sustainable development.
History of the GRODAN Group
In 1949, the ROCKWOOL Group opened a manufacturing plant in IJmuiden, the Netherlands, relocating this facility to Roermond in 1968. One year later, the ROCKWOOL Group in Denmark founded the GRODAN Group to focus on production of stone wool substrate for the horticulture sector. In 1979, the GRODAN Group established itself in the Netherlands at the ROCKWOOL complex in Roermond.
Around the new Millennium, the GRODAN Group profiled itself more as a supplier of total solutions: a combination of clean and manageable substrate, advising and support services. As part of this, the concepts of sustainable business became one of the Group’s most important concerns. Recognition followed quickly. The GRODAN Group was the first substrate supplier to obtain ISO 9001/14001 certification, the Kiwa Keur (quality certificate) and the European Eco-label. At the same time, the Group extended its reach further and further. It is now a worldwide enterprise, active in over sixty countries, from America to Asia.
