Haltom Equipment Company Inc

Haltom Equipment was started in 1979 by Lowell and Dee Haltom as a John Deere consumer products dealer. In 1996, the Haltom`s retired and Scott and Laura Benko purchased the business from them. Scott had been in the Deere business since 1986. Through the time, other lines carried at Haltom in addition to John Deere included Dixon ZTR`s, Scag, Stihl, Arctic Cat and Kawasaki ATV`s. In early 2007, Haltom was forced by Deere to combine w/ the neighboring agriculture dealer (formerly Hendren`s) north of Mooresville. At that same time, Indy Tractor was being formed which included the former Hendren locations and Roberts Farm Equipment in Lebanon. The Haltom business was merged into Indy Tractor and required to move to the Ag location on 67 by Heartland Crossing. Scott and Laura remained with Indy Tractor until 2009 when they sold their ownership share back to Indy Tractor.

Haltom Equipment Company has been a destination for quality lawn & garden equipment, parts and service since 1979.  Originally known as the John Deere consumer products and Dixon ZTR dealer in south-central Indiana, we have evolved to better serve our ever growing and changing customer's needs.  As a result of a national effort by Deere & Company to consolidate its dealers into larger owner groups, we were presented with a unique opportunity to restructure our brand offerings in a way that would allow us more flexibility in customer service and would afford us to once again serve our community.  Our colors have changed, but the personalized attention our customers have come to expect from Haltom Equipment has not.
