About Us
Pioneering spirit runs in our veins
Understanding the wishes of our customers, collaborative thinking and the continuous research and development of new ideas – this was the mindset of our company founders over 80 years ago, and we still work according to the same principle today. To this end, Vogelsang develops and manufactures a wide range of powerful machines and systems for industrial, agricultural and municipal applications. Our over 360 employees in Essen/Oldb., in the Lutherstadt Eisleben company branch and our subsidiary in the USA do so using state-of-the-art, CNC-controlled manufacturing machines.
Rotary lobe pumps
Our pump range includes robust and powerful rotary lobe pumps that are available in different versions. These models are suitable for pumping even abrasive media, acids or fluids with a high solids content. Vogelsang pumps set international standards in the realm of industrial pumping and
wastewater technology. They fulfill requirements of the highest order and are implemented globally in a variety of industries – Vogelsang is one of the main suppliers of the German national railway, Deutsche Bahn, for example. Our pumps also play a crucial role in the removal of oil following shipping accidents or oil rig disasters.
Maceration technology
Another significant Vogelsang development is the RotaCut wet macerator. This product quickly became an indispensable addition to every pump assembly. Nowadays, it is impossible to imagine a world without Vogelsang pumps and the RotaCut, for they both play such a pivotal role in sewage technology, vehicle construction, municipal waste removal, biogas technology and agricultural engineering, as well as in the chemical and food industries.
Spreading technolog
Dribble bar technology was another Vogelsang invention which paved the way for the economical use of liquid manure. Today, these concepts represent the epitome of environmentally friendly liquid manure spreading. As a market leader, we offer dribble bars with working widths from 3 to 36 meters. As a result of its maximum spreading accuracy and reliable technology, our dribble bar system is ideally equipped for the requirements of modern agriculture.

Even in the early years following its foundation in 1929 by Hugo Vogelsang, the company reacted to the phenomena of mechanization and technical change with ingenuity, creativity and dynamic flair. Vogelsang rapidly become one of the most prominent manufacturers of agricultural tankers in North Germany. By 1954, the company had already produced 20,000 wooden barrels, an extraordinary production output at that time.

With progress being made in the area of tanker technology, the company founder's son, Helmut Vogelsang, developed a pumping technology that could be used in combination with a vehicle and that was suitable for application with viscous media and media containing fibers and foreign objects. He invented the elastomer-coated rotary lobe pump and, in doing so, he laid the foundations for successful development in the field of mechanical engineering. This pump is the perfect solution to the requirements of intensive livestock farming and completely revolutionized the handling of liquid manure (slurry). With the introduction of pump manufacture into the company portfolio, Vogelsang consistently transformed itself into a mechanical engineering company. Just a short time afterwards, it was established that these pumps are not only suitable for use with tankers, but they are also highly effective at pumping other viscous media. And it just so happened that at this time other well-established pumping systems began to reach their performance limits.

Over the decades, Vogelsang has tapped several new markets where the rotary lobe pump provides significant advantages. With the pump as its core product, Vogelsang has continuously developed innovations for the areas of maceration, spreading and disposal technology. The first international branch was opened in Denmark in 1988 – in the years that followed, a worldwide network of additional branches and subsidiaries was quickly built up. Over the course of 80 years, we have grown from a humble workshop into an internationally-established mechanical engineering company – a development that we are proud of.
