About Us
Our History
Intersteel was started by John Warkentine in 1962 under the business name Stanley Manufacturing. It was first located on Stephen Street in down town Morden, Manitoba, Canada. Stanley Manufacturing’s main focus was on repair-work for farm machinery. However, quickly it expanded its vision into manufacturing a variety of machines and machine accessories such as:
- snow blowers
- scrapers
- rotary mowers
- bale stacker’s
- utility trailers
- harrow drawbars
- stone pickers
- and many other custom products
But, the biggest selling product was the sunflower harvest attachments, which were shipped as far as Chile and Sudan. Although the majority were exported to the USA. In the late 1970's the name was changed to Intersteel Industries and shortly after relocated to its present address, just west of Morden on Hwy 3. In the mid 1990's there was a shift in production as waste management became the foremost field. At this time, with John’s son Rick helping manage the business, Intersteel began making containers of all shapes and sizes.
In 2015, Intersteel Industries was sold to Maverick Industries, owned and operated by Kyle Wiebe. Upon the sale of the business, Intersteel Industries was rebranded simply as Intersteel. Maverick Industries specializes in custom steel fabrication and manufacturing. Kyle brings this background and a wealth of knowledge into Intersteel. This new phase in the life of Intersteel continues in the traditions of the Warkentine’s while adding to the service and product offerings.
Our Philosophy
…Guides Our Quality
As a manufacturer working with steel, our philosophy guides our quality. We believe in sourcing only top grade steel. We build our containers to be durable. We believe in reinforcing our products in high stress areas, because we know that you never know what kind of abuse your bins and containers will receive. Our goal is to make a product that will outlast any other bin or container you have had before. We are also committed to serving our customers through refurbishing old bins and containers, even from other manufacturers.
