History
LabLogic was founded in the UK in 1980 by John Clapham as a supplier of radio TLC and HPLC instruments and associated software to research organisations. IN/US Systems was founded in the USA a decade later by Dr Ed Rapkin to produce, sell and support the company’s β-RAM radio detector. Both founders had worked together in the 1970s and so a mutual co-operation was natural, since both companies’ focus was the needs of drug research.
IN/US produced the β-RAM radio HPLC detector for β-emitters. LabLogic developed software; firstly DEBRA, a LIMS for drug metabolism which became industry standard for ADME studies. Later, application software for radio chromatography, RaChel, running on Windows 3.0 and various generations followed. LabLogic has a long history of user group involvement which has driven continuous development. Further hardware developments for the β-RAM and its derivatives followed from IN/US, either from its own designers or manufacturing LabLogic’s designs under licence.
Applications in TLC, WBA, radio-GC and more recently PET were catered for by the two companies, and both have a commitment to excellent personal support to users. Customers include most drug research organisations, contract laboratories and leading universities spanning 46 countries.
