About Us
Industry: Services air pollution control or environmental technology, software, olfactometry
As an economically and professionally independent company, we are involved regionally, nationally and internationally in the areas of air pollution control, climate, aerodynamics, environmental software and olfactometry (odor measurements).
Office founded in 1983 in Karlsruhe, 1992 establishment of the Dresden branch and 2020 establishment of the Dorsten branch, from 2022 Bochum. The office's areas of work are Air pollution control, Climate , Aerodynamics/CFD, environmental software (development and sales, measurements/olfactometry), geographic information systems (GIS), tanning/shading.
Personnel Capacity
The office employs approximately 30 employees, including engineers, meteorologists, physicists, ecologists, environmental scientists and geographers. Our employees are members of relevant research and standardization committees in Germany. Dr. Düring is a publicly appointed and sworn “expert for air pollution control (air pollutant emissions and immissions), microclimate” by the Saxony Chamber of Engineers. (see here). Ms. Lauerbach is a publicly appointed and sworn “expert for air pollution control (air pollutant emissions and immissions), microclimate” by the IHK Karlsruhe. Ms. Moldenhauer is a consulting meteorologist for the areas of spread of airborne admixtures through the German Meteorological Society; City and location climate recognized.
Technical Capacity
The following tools and the experience of their use are available:
a) All propagation models to be used for approval procedures
- WinAUSTAL program system for dispersion calculations according to TA Luft
- Lagrangian propagation model LASAT
- Microscale flow and dispersion model WinMISKAM for built-up areas
- Models for calculating the dispersion of car exhaust gases, even in structured terrain
- Diagnostic wind field model DIWIMO for calculating the wind field
- KALM model for calculating cold air outflows
- SHADOW model for calculating the tanning conditions
- CFD model PHOENICS for calculating the flow around the building, interior flow and tunnel flow
- Mesoscale prognostic flow model ProWiMo and METRAS-PC
- PALM-4U for modeling the climate situation in cities
b) Use of devices
- Emission measurement of odorous substances, olfactometer, group of test subjects
- Ultrasonic anemometer with turbulence module for meteorological measurements
- Wind tunnel: We use several university wind tunnels
- Air sampler for tracer gas measurements
- Concentration measurements with passive samplers
Quality Assurance
A quality management system has been introduced and is used in our company. The management system meets the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. Dr.-Ing. is responsible for quality assurance. Thomas Flassak.
Performance
Around 400 projects are completed every year. Approximately 70% of sales are generated from reports, approximately 20% from software and approximately 10% from research projects.
Celebration Workshop Air Pollution Control
This took place on Monday, June 12, 2023, in the historic Lingner Castle, in one of the most attractive locations in Dresden with a wonderful view from the Elbe slope over the Elbe valley and the city of Dresden.
Since 1983, the Lohmeyer Karlsruhe engineering office has been carrying out studies on questions in the areas of pollution control, climate and aerodynamics. At the end of May 1992, a second office was opened in Dresden and in 2020 a third office was opened in Dorsten (now Bochum).
The main professional focus during this time was on projects related to air pollution control and the urban and regional climate. The workshop therefore dealt with current planning strategies for reducing air pollution as well as the tools, including their quality assurance, for climate and dispersion modeling. The workshop offered representatives of authorities, research institutions and engineering offices the opportunity to exchange experiences.
