Madill Equipment, a Nicholson Manufacturing Company
In 2011, Madill was acquired by Nicholson Manufacturing in Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. Nicholson is a world leader in ring debarkers for the lumber mill industry. Nicholson`s modern 110,000 square foot facility now also manufactures the Madill line of forestry equipment. As the coal ran out, forestry expanded and the Madill family undertook repairs to logging machinery, which eventually led to the invention of the first portable spar tree yarder in 1955. The company grew, set up a state of the art plant in Nanaimo B.C. and over time manufactured and sold over 1380 spar yarders worldwide.

About Us
Sam Madill founded the business that now bears his name at Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada in 1911 while working as a blacksmith serving the local coal mining industry.
A complete logging product line including cable swing yarders and heel boom log loaders was designed in the 1970's through to the mid 1980's. In 1977 an additional plant was built in Kalama, Washington, U.S.A. to meet production requirements. By the 1980's the company had become known worldwide as industry leaders in forestry equipment and controlled the bulk of the worldwide 'over 200hp' cable yarder market.
Today, the Madill brand of logging equipment is designed with experience developed from manufacturing over 4,000 machines over a 60 year period. The Madill product line has earned a reputation for its solid construction and simplicity of design which provides for superior performance, productivity and service life.
