We have specialised in the production of chains for a wide variety of industrial sectors since 1953 – day in day out. A vocation matured in the wake of a strong family tradition crossing three generations of entrepreneurs, which began with the construction of machines dedicated to the production of iron wire. The in-depth technical knowledge of the behaviour of the raw material throughout the various processing phases, combined with constant investment in corporate organisation and production technology and customer services focused on problem solving, have led us to gain acknowledged experience on both domestic and international markets, with customised chains that are able to meet all specific needs.

MF Catenificio Frigerio is organised in two different poles, both located in Olginate, near Lecco, in the productive heart of the regions of Lombardy. The production pole extends over a roofed area of 1,800 square meters. This area houses the automated plant for the processing of wire and the production of chains, in addition to the mechanical workshop dedicated to the construction of the equipment used on the lines and the quality laboratory. The logistics pole and the commercial and administration offices are located in a large new premises covering 2,500 square meters, which also houses the semifinished and finished product warehouse, ready to be shipped.
Over the centuries, the iron processing culture and technology has seen significant development in the Lecco area. The presence of iron in the Valsassina mines – then replaced by steel factory scrap from the 1800s – together with the vast availability of hydraulic power supplied by the various torrents that flow through the urban areas of the Valley, led to the birth and growth of a successful steel wire processing industry, which started centuries ago, and was distributed in an organised manner through a fabric of artisan and family businesses which referred to just a few large enterprises. In the 1900s this set-up evolved into a more district-based system, with the consolidation of a mechanical industry focused on supplying plant systems and accessories dedicated to the metallurgy sector.
