EDA History
In 1899, a group of dealers met in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to discuss the need of organizing one of the first retail association groups organized in the state. On January 9, 1900 these organization plans were perfected and the South Dakota Retail Implement Dealers' Association adopted its by-laws.

As early as 1888, the foundation for an equipment dealers association in Minnesota was being laid by implement dealers that gathered to discuss methods of improving unsatisfactory conditions confronting them in their businesses. Between 1888 and 1903, two attempts were made to begin such an association. But it was a February 14, 1904 meeting in St. Cloud that resulted in the successful organization of the Minnesota Implement Dealers' Association, an association that steadily grew to become one of the largest exclusive state implement dealers' associations in the country.

These two influential associations agreed in 1963 to merge their efforts in serving the needs of equipment dealers and formed the Retail Farm Equipment Association for Minnesota and South Dakota.

Today, the Minnesota-South Dakota Equipment Dealers Association proudly holds to its heritage of industry leaders and continues in the mission to aid and protect agricultural, industrial, and outdoor power equipment dealers in the press toward excellence.
