About us
Our forest machine contracting dates back to 1968 when Juha and Jouko Moisio started forestry work using an agricultural tractor. Later we improved our fleet, and in 1979, a company was established under the name Velj. Moisio Ky. In 1995, the business became a limited company (Velj. Moisio Oy), and at the beginning of 2005 the name changed to Moisio Forest Oy to better represent our services in the increased international trade.
How our manufacturing operations began:
Because new forest machines were expensive, we started designing our own harvester head at the end of the 1980s. This led to the development of our first harvester head equipped with a moving body structure (Moipu 700). It was also manufactured by Lehtimäen Konepaja Oy under a licence during the 1990s. The beginning of 1990s saw the concept of a new type of feed roller for harvester heads. The traditional chain feed rollers were too expensive, since their durability and gripping power were poor. This is why we designed the Moipu feed rollers, improving durability and feeding power.
At the beginning of the 1990s, we also started designing a new type of harvester head that would suit forwarders as well. This generated the Moipu 400 harvester head with a more advanced body structure than that of its predecessor Moipu 700. The design and development of Moipu 400E for energy wood harvesting, based on the 400 model, was sparked by a client’s request at the beginning of the 21st century.
Development to improve harvesting methods continues. During 2006-2007 we designed, again at our clients' request, the new, feeding Moipu 400ES and Moipu 300ES energy wood harvester heads.
