Olmi’s history as a company began in 1965, when Franco, then a twenty-year old farmer in the family business, first created an inter-vine disc hoe for his vineyards. The excellent performance of the machine aroused considerable interest among neighbours and acquaintances, and soon the requests started to become more and more numerous, so much so that Franco Olmi began producing the hoe in quantities to meet the needs of local farmers. Once the initial difficulties had been overcome, OLMI began to make a name for itself in the area between Monferrato Astigiano and Langa Albese, and requests for the mechanical hoe reached such levels that the family-run business was no longer able keep up with demand, so Franco took on more staff, recruiting young employees.
In 1978 the disc hoe won the “Sicurezza E.N.P.I.” prize, the first important recognition after years of sacrifice.
Today, the Olmi company is a general partnership, consisting of Franco and his two sons, Sergio and Massimo, the former the head of sales and the latter the head of production.
The company has made the most of its several decades of experience, managing to transform the needs of an increasingly demanding and specific market into technology.
The craftsmanlike structure allows direct contact with the customer, enabling the customisation of machines with special accessories on request.
Continuous updating allows the production of machines which are highly reliable, technologically advanced and one of a kind in terms of the quality of the materials and attention to detail. Products which are original and innovative, therefore, but simple to use by the operator and always with respect for nature. The company aims to reduce the environmental impact by contributing to eco-sustainable agriculture. This has given rise to certain equipment (Brush cutter machine - Leaf Remover machine - Disc hoeing machine) which is essential for those who are interested in organic processing. Olmi provides ongoing support to customers to improve machine performance.
