History
SoundPLAN® is produced by SoundPLAN GmbH situated in Backnang some 25 km northeast to downtown Stuttgart in Germany. The company was established in 1986. In 1987 the first SoundPLAN module, Road Noise, was launched. Within a few years SoundPLAN was used by the road administrations in 15 of the 17 German states. Later, Deutsche Bundesbahn AG also began using SoundPLAN throughout the country.
In 1992 SoundPLAN GmbH (at that time 'Braunstein + Berndt GmbH') created an international distributor network to provide product and service support to clients on a global basis. The same year, in 1992, the first license was sold to a Scandinavian company. Now SoundPLAN has grown to be one of the international leaders of acoustics software, used by many major cities, government agencies, universities and environmental consulting firms around the world.
