The Southeastern Horticultural Society formed in 2008, growing out of the annual Southeastern Flower Show, a truly premiere event attracting 20,000 attendees annually. The Southeastern Flower Show further promotes SHS’s mission of conservation and awareness of the natural environment through education, horticultural excellence, and artistic expression.

SHS provides year-round educational programs, event and access to plant resources through the following key areas:

The Southeastern Flower Show:

  • Presenting the annual premier gardening and horticultural event in the Southeast that promotes conservation and awareness of the natural environment through education, horticultural excellence and artistic expression.

Educational forums, lectures and programs:

  • Offering a series of educational activities that span the vast spectrum of plant and horticulture information and appeal to individuals and groups at all ages and levels or interest.

Engaging in outreach to bring horticulture expertise to the southeast:

  • Working with schools, educational organizations, institutions and organizations to create science and horticulture curriculum and educational programs
  • Designing and leading horticulture training programs.
  • Design and implement youth mentoring programs to teach teens and young adults about environmental issues and expose them to “green” careers while creating and maintaining healthy green living environments.

A Resource Center for Horticulture

  • Providing a network for individuals, organizations, corporations, businesses and educators involved in professional horticulture we will serve as a clearing house for plant and horticulture information.

The Southeastern Flower Show is the crown jewel event of the Southeastern Horticultural Society.

For 25 years, the Southeastern Flower Show has served as the harbinger of spring in the South occurring just weeks before Atlanta’s azaleas and dogwoods burst into blossom.

More than 2,000 volunteers work to design, create and support this multiday event attended by 20,000 people from across the Southeast.

The Southeastern Flower Show includes juried competition in landscape & floral design and horticulture, as well as:

  • Dramatic landscape gardens featuring mature trees and majestic water features
  • Internationally known speakers
  • Beautiful and fragrant floral and cooking demonstrations
  • Exciting musical entertainment
  • Activities for children of all ages
  • A marketplace offering unique gardening related art, decorative accessories, plants, supplies and services
