Advanced Nonwovens from Technical Fibre Products
At Technical Fibre Products (TFP) we develop and manufacture high performance nonwoven materials. Offering not just a diverse product range, but the capability to tailor materials to meet specific performance requirements. Our nonwovens find application in a wide variety of fields including surface engineering of composites, fire protection, thermal insulation, power storage and cryogenic super insulation. Our most popular Optimat®, Optiveil® and Tecnofire® ranges deliver properties including a superior quality surface finish, while providing functionality across areas spanning EMI shielding, electrical conductivity, fire protection, static dissipation and enhanced abrasion resistance.
At TFP, a key part of our ethos is working in partnership with our customers to develop solutions for their technically demanding challenges. Our expertise is drawn from an extensive knowledge of working with a wide range of polymers, particulates and speciality fibres. This experience, combined with the ultilisation of our in-house metal coated fibres production capability, ensures that we continue our 30 year tradition of delivering customised material solutions for our customers.
What We Do:
At TFP we manufacture an extensive portfolio of nonwoven mats and veils using a unique wet-laid process.
This production process has evolved from our papermaking roots. Our speciality forming machines ensure the highest quality fibre dispersion with the flexibility to customise our materials to suit specific customer requirements.
We work with a broad range of specialist fibres including, but not limited to; carbon, aramid, metal coated carbon, glass, polyester and thermoplastics, and convert these into high quality nonwoven mats and veils. We can tailor the properties of these to fulfil our customers' specific technical or aesthetic requirements through fibre-type & binder selection as well as the addition of particulates to the structure. Materials are available in areal weights from as low as 2 g/m² up to 3000 g/m². We also offer the unique capabiity to tailor the properties of our metal coated materials. These fibres are produced using an in-house electroless and electroplating facility and the metal coating type and thickness can be modified to fulfil specific performance characteristics.
Our Optimat, Optiveil and Tecnofire ranges provide customisable material solutions suited to a wide range of applications, including surface finish in composites, EMI shielding of electronics and fire protection. Find our more about the properties and applications of these in our products section.
Our Expertise
At TFP, we pride ourselves on our unique capability and high calibre of expertise, which enables us to deliver superior quality, customisable nonwovens.
Our team of experienced materials scientists and operatives work in partnership with our customers to develop nonwoven solutions for technically demanding challenges. Drawing on an in-depth understanding of the science behind the nonwoven forming process, our team can create functional, tailor-made materials from blends of fibres, particulates and binders to achieve specific performance characteristics.
This expertise also extends to secondary processing. We offer consolidation of multi-layer structures and slitting capability in-house and work in partnership with a network of converting specialists to offer additional options such as resin impregnation of the nonwoven base material.
Quality is also a primary consideration and we are committed to producing nonwovens which are consistently of the highest possible quality. This is reflected in our ISO 9001 accreditation and our recent investment in a high resolution fault detection system, which provides our customers with assurance of a high quality material.
Quality
At TFP we pride ourselves on the quality & uniformity of the fibre dispersion in our nonwovens and are commited to producing materials which are consistently of the highest possible quality.
Continuous Quality Monitoring
Our commitment to quality is typified by a significant investment in a new, high resolution fault detection system. This recent addition to our manufacturing line carries out continuous checks, assessing the quality of every square metre of our Optiveil & Optimat materials to a resolution as precise as 1µm and augments existing continuous measurement of areal weight. These online systems ensures the quality & consistency of our materials.
Quality Assurance
TFP are accredited to ISO 9001 quality standards which, coupled with our knowledge and expertise, provides our customers with the assurance of high quality nonwovens designed to meet specific performance requirements.
