1st annual global social change film festival & institute

The Global Social Change Film Festival & Institute (GSCFFI) Bali 2011 will feature eight selected film finalists, filmmaking workshops and courses, the 'Green is Gold' pre-festival event, and a post-festival event exploring how to make filmmaking more environmental.

The finalists use the power of film to tell compelling and motivational stories about the most pressing social problems of our time. True to the international vision of the GSCFFI, the films also promote intercultural understandings and foster international social justice dialogues.

The theme for the Bali 2011 film festival is 'Women & Film.' Honorees and awards include: Women and Childrens Crisis Centre of Tonga recipient of the GSCFFI 2011 Activist Award; Nia Dinata, the GSCFFI 2011 Filmmaker Honoree; and EngageMedia recipient of the the GSCFFI 2011 Innovator Award.

The GSCFFI aims to create a space for activists, filmmakers, and local communities and hosts events, workshops, and screenings throughout the year.
