A Jarshire Reel-Saver pays for itself in days
It is not often that an investment in equipment will pay for itself within days, but that exactly was the experience of prepared food packaging specialist, Prep Direct following the purchase of a Jarshire Reel-saver.
Formed in May 2004 and based in Brandon, Suffolk, Prep Direct is part of the Produce World business group, suppliers of a range of prepared potatoes and vegetables to the retail, food service and manufacturing sectors.
Over a period of time, the cores of more than ten reels of specialist packaging material had been put aside following damage sustained during transit and on-site handling.
Spotting a Reel-Saver advertisement in a trade magazine, Prep Direct’s Process & Development manager Andy Mitchell contacted manufacturer Jarshire Limited and, within a few days of delivery, all the damaged cores had been repaired and the reels put back in the production stream.
Pneumatically operated, the standard Reel-Saver is designed for cores with an internal bore of 70/76 mm with sleeve inserts available for other sizes. In operation, the tapered jaws of the Reel-Saver are simply inserted into the damaged core and, at a flick of a switch, they expand to return the core to its original shape.
Commenting, Andy Mitchell said: “An easy to use and economical investment that exceeded our expectations. The cost of the recovered film more than paid for the purchase”.
