A&WMA’s Annual Conference & Exhibition to Focus on Exploring Innovative Solutions


Pittsburgh, PA (March 9, 2005) – The Air & Waste Management Association's 2005 Annual Conference & Exhibition will take place June 21-24, 2005, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN.

With the theme, “Exploring Innovative Solutions,” the Conference is expected to bring together more than 3,000 experts from industry, government, and academia to explore new technologies, pioneering public policies, and groundbreaking partnerships. Highlights include:

•  A Keynote Presentation on managing federal, state, and community environmental issues by Rob Brenner, Deputy Assistant Administrator, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Air and Radiation. Other top EPA policymakers also will be on hand to discuss many new EPA clean air initiatives.
•  A presentation on 3M's pioneering Pollution Prevention Pays (3P) program and other innovative technical and regulatory solutions from Keynote Speaker Dr. Katherine E. Reed, staff vice president, 3M Environmental, Health and Safety Operations.
•  A panel discussion on agricultural environmental issues, where researchers will introduce summary findings from a just-concluded, three-year investigation into gas, particulate, and odor emissions from swine and poultry housing facilities. The study was funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
•  The 7th International Urban Air Quality Forum, which will examine the impact of fuel choices on the environment in developing countries.
•  The 2005 Critical Review, addressing the environmental effects of nanoparticles.
