Lansing, MI, September 12th, 2016 -- Since being launched in late 2012, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene’s Facebook page has been growing in popularity at a steady rate as more Certified Industrial Hygienists and industrial hygiene professionals turn to social media for news, updates and information. This month, the ABIH® Facebook page reached a new milestone with its 1000th follower.
Social media has become a convenient and fast way for ABIH® to disseminate information, share ideas and announce events that ABIH® will be participating in. These include information about conferences that ABIH® is attending, deadlines for submitting applications to become a Certified Industrial Hygienist® (CIH®), electing Board Members, educational information and changes in regulations that impact the industrial hygiene community.
In addition to the Facebook page, ABIH® also has a growing LinkedIn group with over 870 members and a dynamic Twitter page. All three of these social media channels are regularly used by ABIH® to post updates about the CIH® program; provide a venue for industrial hygiene and environmental, health and safety professionals to communicate, share ideas, post employment opportunities, and learn from many of the top minds in the industry; and promote industry certification.
“We are pleased to now have 1,000 Facebook supporters and this number is growing on a daily basis,” said Susan Ripple, CIH® and Chair of ABIH®. “ABIH® invites all CIHs and others in the profession to join the discussion and participate on our social media channels. We can all benefit from sharing ideas, thoughts and questions with some of the brightest minds in the industry. Join us on the ABIH® Facebook page, LinkedIn group and Twitter account to connect with peers located throughout the world.”
