Agrosciences on line : launch of the Agreenium-IAVFF Online University
With learning strategies including ever more digital content, the first course from the Agreenium-Institut Agronomique Vétérinaire et Forestier de France (IAVFF, France's Agricultural, Veterinary and Forestry Institute) Online University is now open for subscriptions. Officially launched by three Ministers on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Paris International Agricultural Show (INRA stand), the first MOOC covers agroecology, a key issue in France's recently passed legislation on the future of agriculture.
Stéphane Le Foll, Minister of Agriculture, Agrifood and Forestry, Emmanuel Macron, Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Economy, and Geneviève Fioraso, Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research, officially opened the Agreenium-IAVFF Online University1 (AUOL) and the launch of its agroecology MOOC2 on Tuesday, February 24 on the INRA stand at the Paris International Agricultural Show.
With learning strategies including ever more digital content (distance learning for students based away from the educational centre, lifelong learning, new learning methods), the development of online courses is becoming a strategic element in the differentiation of the world's best universities. Therefore, the leading players in agricultural and veterinary research and higher education have come together in the Agreenium-IAVFF Online University. The objective is to offer a set of e-learning products available through a common portal. Six or seven MOOCs will be produced each year (agroecology, introduction to vine and wine sciences, epidemiology in animal health, organic farming etc.). The Agreenium-IAVFF Online University also aims to develop other types of training, leading to qualifications and otherwise, and a media library featuring documentary and educational resources.
The Agreenium-IAVFF Online University is available on the FUN platform (France Université Numérique): https://www.france-universite-numerique-mooc.fr/universities/Agreenium/
The teaser for the first open-to-all online course, focusing on agroecology, has been available on the FUN platform since February 24. You can now register online at: https://www.france-universite-numerique-mooc.fr/courses/Agreenium/66001/session01/about
The operator of the online university is Agreenium, which will soon become the IAVFF. The future IAVFF (France's Agricultural, Veterinary and Forestry Institute), created by the legislation on the future of agriculture (October 13, 2014), will bring together the leading actors in agricultural and veterinary research and higher education in France. The decree establishing the new institute could be published in March 2015, with the institute taking over from Agreenium and incorporating it.
