Dow Applauds Progress on U.S. Regulatory Reform
MIDLAND, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) today applauded the recent progress made by the Obama Administration on regulatory reform.
Dow is pleased to see that the Administration is following through on its commitment to review existing regulations and make changes, if appropriate. We are particularly pleased to see the public being given an opportunity to recommend rules for review.
“Well-conceived, science-based, and effectively implemented regulations are important tools for protecting our work spaces and environment,” said Dow Chairman and CEO Andrew Liveris. “The uncontrolled accumulation of regulations, and their costs, poses a real threat to U.S. businesses. The President’s decision to review the broad range of regulations on the books is therefore critical. The work is not done, but this is a sound beginning, and I applaud the President for tackling this matter, and Cass Sunstein in particular, for the efforts thus far.”
Along with a critical review of proposed regulations, timely review of existing regulations is a necessary component of regulatory reform. Reform is critical for making the U.S. manufacturing sector more competitive. Dow looks forward to working with the Administration and with Congress to ensure we make our regulatory system better. We are confident that a coordinated effort will allow companies like Dow to achieve the nation’s regulatory objectives more effectively and at a lower cost.
