DuPont completes purchase of MECS
DuPont (Wilmington, DE) announced that it has completed its acquisition of MECS (St. Louis, MO) from American Securities LLC (New York, NY). MECS is a global provider of process technology for pollution control, including specialty equipment and technical services for sulfuric acid producers.
Its technologies are designed to help customers, primarily in the fertilizer, non-ferrous metals, petroleum refining, and chemical industries, reduce their air emissions, improve operations efficiencies, and reduce energy consumption. 'This acquisition enables us to diversify our clean technologies portfolio in significant ways,' said James Weigand, president of DuPont Sustainable Solutions.
'As a result, we estimate an increase in the addressable market for our clean air and clean fuel offerings from approximately $200 million to $1 billion.'
