How Southeast Asia is Driving Poultry Consumption Growth
Poultry consumption in Southeast Asia is on the rise. In Vietnam, India, Indonesia and the Philippines, the number of poultry units being eaten has outperformed global growth in the last five years and is expected to continue climbing until 2022.
Figures reveal that Asia’s poultry production expanded by 56 per cent in the last decade, growing from 5.9 million metric tonnes to 9.2 million metric tonnes in 2018. It is expected to reach 12.3 million metric tonnes by 2028. Additionally, according to USDA’s International Long-Term Projections to 2028,the region will become the world’s fastest-growing importer of soybean meal — a key ingredient in animal feed — over the next decade, overtaking the European Union (EU) as the largest soybean meal importer by 2022.
