The production process will produce potassium chloride from solution-mined carnallite. HPD will provide a brine concentration system to reconstitute the carnallite directly from solution mining operations. The concentrated carnallite will then be processed in a five-stage crystallization system that will produce the expected capacity of 580,000 tpa potash to the quality specified by MagMinerals.
HPD was awarded the project due to their extensive experience in potash installations and expertise in crystallization process design for chemical production applications.
MagMinerals, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of MagIndustries Corp.. The rich magnesium and potash salt deposits, which underlie the Makola Mineral License near Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo, are owned by the government of the Republic of Congo and under license to MagMinerals, Inc..
