ISRAEL – The Start-up Nation
Water Technology Industry in Israel turns Ideas into Successful Businesses
A slew of complimentary articles praising the achievements of Israeli technology have been appearing around the world following a tour of Israel in May by influential journalists. The tour was arranged by the Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute in the run-up to WATEC 2011.
Forty-six journalists from Europe, North America, Russia, China and the Far East as well as from South America participated in the tour. For three days they met the heads of the Israeli water and clean-tech industries and toured companies dealing with irrigation, water recycling and environmental protection.
Following the tour the British journal, Global Water Intelligence, published an article entitled 'Israel - The Start-up Nation'. The writer describes how entrepreneurs, start-up companies and technology hothouses successfully join forces with Israeli and international business interests to turn their ideas into successful businesses.
The Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore was impressed by the Israeli ability to make the desert bloom using trickle irrigation and desalinated water; and described at length the expansion of modern water desalinization facilities located along the Israeli coastline and the government's 'NewTech' program which provides a strong impetus to the water technology industry in Israel.
Adv. Amir Tamari, CEO of the Trade Fairs and Convention Center and Moshe Lilos, CEO of Kenes Exhibitions, the organizers of WATEC 2011, said that since the tour they are getting media attention from around the world; from Brazil, Vietnam, France, Austria, Ireland and South Africa, and they expect it to continue. Past experience proves that inviting journalists to Israel is the best tool for fighting prejudices and negative notions, which regrettably exist in some of the countries around the world, by showing the attractive side of Israeli industry.
Companies from Israel and from around the world will exhibit developments and innovations in the creation of new water sources, recycling water, dealing with damage to the environment and with sources of renewable energy, alternative energy etc.
In proximity to the exhibition there will be an international conference whose theme is 'Where Innovation meets Implementation in the World of Clean-Tech' (i2i). The conference will deal with ways to translate new developments and technological innovations into successful enterprises.
