Lallemand Animal Nutrition participates at American Dairy Science Association-American Society of Animal Science Joint Annual Meeting
In July, Lallemand Animal Nutrition employees attended the 2014 Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) of the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) and the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS), held in Kansas City, Kan., USA. The JAM is a technical and research-focused meeting where professors, graduate students and industry professionals congregate each year to share the latest in industry research and exchange ideas with like-minded professionals.
In addition to workshops and seminars, the JAM also hosts a three-day tradeshow. Lallemand Animal Nutrition exhibited a display in a prime location near the ASAS booth. The booth conducted a lot of traffic from customers, business partners and industry professionals, who complimented Lallemand’s visually appealing graphics and enjoyed informational literature about our products. One piece of particular interest was the “Lallemand Schedule and Highlight” booklet which listed 50 different posters or oral presentations relevant to the Lallemand business. Of these, 13 presentations used Lallemand products within the research studies. Lallemand employee, Eric Chevaux, presented the poster, Effect of active dry yeast vs. sodium sesquicarbonate supplementation on milk yield and components in dairy cows, of which he was a contributing author. The trial summary compared dairy cows fed Levucell® SC and sodium sesquicarbonate for milk production and component yield.
Lallemand proudly showed its support for the dairy industry by sponsoring both an award and event for young professionals in the field. Dr. Trevor DeVries, from the University of Guelph, was presented with the 2014 Lallemand Animal Nutrition Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition. This award was created to stimulate and recognize outstanding achievement in research, teaching, extension and/or industry in applied dairy nutrition by scientists during the first 10 years post-graduation of their professional career. Also in support of young professionals interested in the area of dairy research, Lallemand sponsored the Graduate Student Mixer, attended by over 100 graduate students at PBR Big Sky.
This year, the ADSA-ASAS JAM this was attended by 13 Lallemand Animal Nutrition representatives; 10 from the North American division, two from France, and one from Brazil. Lallemand looks forward to participating at the next JAM in 2015 in Orlando, Florida.
