Launch of the publication Mountain Farming is Family farming

Launched today at the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the United Nations in NYC, the publication represents a contribution from mountain areas to the upcoming UN International Year of Family Farming 2014. Within its 7 chapters and 25 case studies from around the world, it gives an overview of the challenges and opportunities currently faced by mountain people and the strategies they have developed to cope.

Each case study also features a set of lessons learned and recommendations, meant to inform and benefit mountain communities, policy-makers, development experts and academics who work to support mountain farmers and to protect mountain environments.

The publication is the result if a joint effort from FAO, the MPS, CDE of the University of Bern, SDC, ADC and BOKU, to which several MP members have also provided their contribution.
